'Radical rethink' needed on food

10. September 2009 17:33
From the BBC: Based on an assessment of the UK’s food supply, Environment Secretary Hilary Benn has warned that a "radical rethink" of how the UK produces and consumes its food is needed because of population growth and climate change. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has published a scorecard-style assessment and will publish findings from its recent consultation in the coming months. The article also includes an interesting BBC News video on how scientists are trying to boost crop yields while using less water.
