I was at the IESE Doing Good Doing Well conference in Barcelona last week, and I'm convinced that the interest in socially responsible business will only increase over the next few years. Interestingly, it seems to be a 2-way movement in that many non-profit organizations repeatedly said they were looking to recruit MBAs as they recognize the need to professionalize the sector. I think, however, that to ensure the long term success of this movement one of the things we must do is resolve the issues around measuring the impact of CSR-related activities.
Lastly, see below for an interesting article from the FT which argues a completely different point of view, ie that MBAs are unprepared for a morally complex future (By Thomas N.Gladwin and David Berdish):

Great article. You peel away the confusing layers and get to the issues at the heart of the matter. There is more to CSR than mere tree-hugging and corporations may find they have even more at stake, and much more to gain from the game than our beloved tree huggers.

Hi,
No doubt Nestlé is doing very well in CSR activities like nutrition , water, rural and others by Creating Shared Value. I believe that CSV is one of major ingredient into Nestlé business and other companies should also follow such kind of approach.
As you asked about other companies example, one name that comes to mind is Mahindra & Mahindra. They have launched a project Nanhi Kali through their K.C. Mahindra Education Trust and Naandi foundation.
But what Nestlé is doing its really great.
I would be happy if any chance is given to me for contributing towards this CSV program.
